The Man behind the Magic: The Story of Walt Disney

  1. This well-written biography portrays Walt Disney's life as one of vision, disappointment, and remarkable success. Walt Disney created an entertainment kingdom with his ground-breaking animation techniques and fresh story ideas. Even after his death, the magic continued to prosper in the construction of Disney World, Cal Arts, and Disneyland. This innovative story teaches readers that hard work pays off and they should never give up on a dream. The authors of this biography do not bash Walt to get press sensationalism, nor do they candy coat him to make him seem more superior then he was; they present their ideas on Walt in a very sensible fashion making the story fair and unbiased. In addition to its clear and concise wording this biography contained a medley of fabulous old fashioned images as well as quotations. Since the book was chronologically organized it was easy to locate different information through finding the chapter titles in the table of contents. Although the photos could have been bigger and contained more color the page outline overall was exceptional. The only issue I had was that the authors could have gone more in depth concerning Walt’s life, because it was only 200 pages they shied away from explaining more personal facts about Walt. Although they corrected some rumours that were floating around they didn’t thoroughly research into all that has been said about him. I feel that if you are new to Walt Disneys story this would be a good starter book to learn the basic information, however, I would not recommend it to the expert Disney fans. They would find the information useless because they already know a lot about Walts Life, so they wouldn’t be learning any new information by reading this book. Overall the biography was light as well as informative; it allowed me to get a fundamental understanding of Walt Disney’s life and is certainly a worthwhile book to read!
